The extremist organization's lightning takeover begins to affect mainly the provinces far from the capital • The evacuation of Western diplomats from Kabul's airport continues • The Taliban leader is expected to be appointed president in the next day

The Taliban regime entered its fourth day and despite its attempts to portray itself as "moderate", today at least one person was killed and six wounded in a demonstration held in Mazar a-Sharif, Blech district in the east of the country.

While most eyes are on Kabul, where the Islamic organization is acting cautiously in an attempt to evade embarrassing images that could hurt recent achievements, it seems that far from there the situation is completely different.

"At least one civilian was killed and six others were injured in what became known as the" Tola News ", a security source told AFP.

The Taliban's lightning takeover of the capital last Sunday has raised fears that the regime will begin severe repression and executions as it used to do in the past when it ruled from 2001-1996.

The concern has led to a hitherto unknown number of Afghans trying to flee for their lives in any form, even hanging from the wings of transport planes that have begun to evacuate the country.

Meanwhile, the operation to evacuate Western diplomats from Kabul Airport continues, a place that has become a "green zone" and is held by military forces.

In addition, after days of uncertainty, the UAE announced that it had decided to grant political asylum to the escaped Afghan President, Ashraf Ghani, "following humanitarian considerations" thus effectively confirming that the former country leader is with his family in the Gulf.

Ghani recalled that he fled Afghanistan shortly before the extremist organization took over in a move that sealed Kabul's fate and the fall of the capital into the Taliban's.

At the same time, the leader of the Taliban movement and one of its founders, Abdul Ghani Bardar, 53, is within the country's borders after a 20-year exile and is expected to be appointed president of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in the next 24 hours.
